Abstract

In this video, Jean-François Madeuf, Igino Conforzi, Julian Zimmermann and Philipp Tarr explain the performance practice of natural trumpet ensembles during the late Renaissance and the Baroque era, which relied mainly on oral transmission and on improvisation. Today, this performance practice can by partly reconstructed based on a small number of sources like the Bendinelli’s collection.
